Hats off to the organisers of this long delayed and much missed event which was finally pulled-off to deliver acutely needed therapy to the pandemic fatigued Porschephile masses.

Tanked Up – Sat 17th July 2021
An early start beckoned for my cycle ride down to Fenchurch Street Station to get myself and my bike onto the train to the far east. Shoeburyness in the far east of Essex was my destination and the purpose of my trip was to collect the Yellow Peril after its new fuel tank and associated hoses had been fitted at Sportwagen.

Having a comprehensive throttle body rebuild has been at the top of the Yellow Peril’s “Should Have Sorted This Out Ages Ago List” for some time but various higher priority jobs and life in general simply got in the way.
Finally however, I had an email from Steve Winter at Jaz Porsche saying “Bring the car in and let’s get it sorted” and I was there like a shot to leave the car in his care.

The Yellow Peril was born in Stuttgart in October 1970 (Porsche 1971 model year). Shortly after her birth, she was shipped across the English Channel and delivered to AFN’s Falconworks Porsche Adoption Agency in Iselworth. She was subsequently registered and handed to her new carer in January 1971.

So what and where on Earth is Boxengasse?
Well Boxengasse – the word translates from German to English as “Pit Lane” but Boxengasse the place is a large rural site off the A41 near Bicester which is dedicated to all things Porsche.
It incorporates a number of old farm buildings as well as new purpose built buildings in the same agricultural/industrial style which accommodate the site owner Frank Cassidy’s home, his personal car collection and the premises of Autofarm – a long established classic Porsche restoration and race preparation company.

December’s a funny old time to be holding a big Porsche gathering given the vagaries of UK weather but the thankfully mild (but wet) weather de-risked the dissemination of salt and all roads led to Bicester Heritage for a Porsche Club pre-Christmas gathering.

Let’s face it, asking how my ’71 911 was going at the November Porsche Club Out East meet was never going to elicit the response “Perfect Steve. Not a single thing wrong it but I think old cars can become interminably boring over time due to their relentless reliability” ……… was it?
To be fair – I did actually restrict my response to “Pretty good thanks apart from the need for a bit of minor clutch adjustment”.
Steve Winter being the true gentleman he is immediately told me to bring Yellow Peril up to his Jaz Porsche workshop in St Albans the following Saturday where he’d quickly carry out the necessary clutch adjustment.

It’s scary how quickly these monthly Porsche Club meetings keep coming around. The time gap between them seems to shorten even faster as we we enter the dark, dank Winter months but I guess that entirely related to the declining hours of daylight.
Winter to not, the forecast of a dry November day was enough to entice Porsche owners pull their cars out of their garages to join the gathering in Hackney Wick.

Jet lag after returning from Japan meant that I had no problem getting up to attend the Out East Porsche Club get together in the wilds of Hackney Wick. It was just a shame I had to wait 6 hours after I woke-up at 2AM to attend!

Porsche KG – “what’s that?” I hear you ask. Well, it stands for Porsche Konstruktionen GesmbH, the company founded in 1947 by Ferry Porsche and his sister Louise Hedwig Anna Wilhelmine PiĆ«ch in order to build the very first Porsche badged cars. Porsche KG changed to Porsche AG in 1973 when the company went public.
The Porsche Club of Great Britain organised the KG event at the glorious Goodwood Motor Circuit as a celebration of Porsche cars built during the “KG” years from 1947 to 1973.
